Doug was born in Charleston, SC and moved to NC, where he lived in Rocky Mount, Fayetteville, and Winston-Salem. He graduated from Wake Forest University attaining a BBA degree in Marketing and Management. Upon graduation he was recruited and hired by a major national retailer. His successful retail career of 37 years included positions of store, region and national management culminating in his being appointed to National Director of Replenishment Policy, Procedures and Systems.
Doug, his wife Gladys and three children vacationed annually on the New Hanover and Brunswick county beaches knowing they would return to the coast of NC after his career from retail merchandising. He and his wife have owned property in St. James Plantation for the last fourteen years and feel like they have returned to paradise on the coast.
